On the Run in Berlin: Where to stay, eat and drink

August 10, 2017

While in Berlin, I was lucky enough to stay at one of the most luxurious hotels: the Regent Berlin.

It was a busy -busy- week…Here are some of the highlights, my favorite places to stay, eat and drink as well as some fashion must-have.

Day 1- and the Berlin Fashion week folie has started. On the run everyday – I had to find a comfortable pair of heels ( because who goes to Fashion Week in flats anyway?). I recently found out about Shoes of Prey and got my own personalised pair of heels! I designed it all. Every single detail, from the color to the material to my own name engraved…Feeling pretty proud about this one. Here is what they look like:

During this stay, I was even more lucky to shoot with talented fashion photographer Cuba Junior for various magazine features. Here is a sneak peek during our shoot at the Regent.

For a full tour of the hotel, check out my review on Mood Board Magazine.

1 rule: do not miss breakfast at the Regent. Trust me…This is one of the best I have ever had.

Where to Eat

As you might know already…I am a foodie. A huge foodie and could travel just to discover new places to eat. While in London, I found out about  Eatwith, a online platform that allows you to book dinners at  chef’s homes.

Once there, you get to meet new people (yes, you share a table with strangers) and the chef cooks in front of you, at his/her home. You learn about their cuisine and their life. Which has been the coolest experience ever.

Persian Night: Chez Alon

In Berlin, we met Alon: a photographer, MFA graduate and a food enthusiast. Born and raised in Israel, in a religious environment the Shabbat welcoming and Friday dinners were always important to him.

“I loved watching my grandmother and mother cooking and combining all the old recipes that they had learned from their parents and grandparents. All I had to was follow their path.” – Alon

So, I wondered…Alon…How did you get into the “Eatwith experience?”

” In 2013 I moved to Australia and quickly found that I was missing both home cooking and that togetherness of Friday dinners. The only way to compensate for these quiet Fridays was to invite friends and of course cook for them. I then knew the time has come for me to carry the torch and ever since I’ve been hosting and cooking to the people I love, making sure I’m always surrounded by the smells, tastes and colors from home.”

Eatwith is now offering my readers ( you! ) 10% off of your next booking with code “Sarah10” on www.eatwith.com valid up through October.

In London, we met Camilya who offered a 5-course seafood menu. And yes, she even made a special menu for my vegetarian friends!

Bon Appétit !

A couple of steps away from the Regent Hotel, I discovered Cookies Cream: finest vegetarian restaurant in town. Currently on tour celebrating their upcoming 10th anniversary around Europe,  Cookies Cream will be visiting London for their menu presentation at The Magazine restaurant.

The latest venture of restaurateur Heinz -Cookies- Gindullis,  Crackers’ beautifully designed interiors will take you into a complete different dimension. Adjacent to Cookies, this place is the perfect marriage of a restaurant and nightclub.

Thanks for sharing this. I wanted to go to the Berlin Fashion week too, but went to Paris haute Couture instead. Anyway it’s always useful to know where to find best spots.
